Guilford High Schooler Dead From Gunshot Wound

Guilford police are continuing their investigation into the shooting death of a 15-year-old high school student.

Officials said Guilford High School freshman Ethan Song was shot and killed inside a house Wednesday. He was reportedly with another teen whose identity has not been released. Details of what led to the shooting are unknown.

School Superintendent Paul Freeman told reporters a crisis team was put in place at the high school and will remain there as long as necessary.

“I was there as students arrived this morning,” Freeman said. “They’re very sad, they’re confused. They’re shocked, but they’re there to support each other. There were a lot of hugs in Guilford High School this morning.”

Freeman said Song was an engaged student who had siblings in the Guilford school system.

First Selectman Matt Hoey and Guilford State Rep. Sean Scanlon joined Freeman outside the administrative offices ofGuilford Public Schools. Scanlan received permission from the governor’s office to lower flags to half-staff on town properties.

Police are actively investigating.
