Music Interview: Frederic Chiu Lets The Audience Decide Romeo And Juliet's Fates

Oct 10, 2018

Romeo and Juliet is one of Shakespeare's greatest tragedies, but surprisingly, Prokofiev created an alternative happy ending for his ballet version. Frederic Chiu will finally realize his 25-year dream to present this happy ending by giving audience members a chance to decide the fates of the star-crossed lovers in two performances at Drexel University in Philadelphia on November 17th and 18th.

Kate Remington talks with Frederic about what this project means to him, and what it's like to perform Prokofiev's original piano score for the ballet.

If you're unable to travel to the Philadelphia performances, Frederic will be presenting a preview of some never-before heard selections from the ballet in their original piano versions at his Beechwood Arts Immersion salon on Sunday, October 14th.
