The Bridgeport, Conn. Housing Authority's plans to convert a defunct city hospital into a public housing development had been on hold for the past 10 years. Now, with help from federal money, the project is scheduled to be completed by next spring.

High School students evaluate the federal stimulus

A team of Staples High School students from Westport, Connecticut placed 6th out of 389 teams in the Moody's Megamath Challenge. The students had to answer two questions: Will the $787 billion dollar federal stimulus package meet goals in improving the Gross Domestic Product--the GDP--and in creating jobs? And is another stimulus needed? The challenge was to answer the questions in one day. WSHU's Mark Herz spoke to two team members, Senior Kyle Beatty and Junior Naveen Murali. They told him their day started early on a Saturday.
