In this series, reporter Alison Freeland collects the stories, challenges, and goals of six businesses, and then goes to Yale professors Barry Nalebuff and Ian Ayres, who brainstorm on what these businesses can do to reach those goals- and we learn something about the economy and business.

We've just concluded a six-week series called Better Biz. Reporter Alison Freeland profiled individual Connecticut businesses and brought their challenges to two Yale economists for their comments. Professor Barry Nalebuff and Professor Ian Ayres The two are co-authors of a book called "Why Not: How to Use Everyday Ingenuity to Solve Problems Big and Small." It was their interest in solving problems that we called upon in this series. Reporter Alison Freeland shares business reaction and listener comments on the series.

Some children are born with a rare condition known as glycogen storage disease or GSD. In 2001, parents in Cheshire, Conn., had a son with GSD, and they set out to find a cure. Along the way, they found a product that made his life better. Now they are part of a team that wants to market the product to the sports nutrition world and beyond.
