The expert on foreign relations and a world-class scholar and diplomat, Dr. Richard Haass will discuss and sign copies of his compelling new book, War of Necessity, War of Choice: A Memoir of Two Iraq Wars. Haass, who is the President of the Council on Foreign Relations, was a member of the National Security Council staff for the first President Bush and the director of policy planning in the State Department for President George W. Bush. His experience put him in the unique position of having been one of just a handful of individuals, along with Colin Powell, Dick Cheney, Paul Wolfowitz, and Bob Gates, involved at a senior level of U.S. government decision making during both Iraq conflicts. In his book, Haass is the first to take us behind closed doors and gives us a revealing, first-hand account of not only what happened, but why we went to war.
