WSHU Public Radio invites you to “Join the Conversation”
WSHU’s well-received lecture series continues this winter with some fascinating — and wonderfully diverse — voices. From poetry to non-fiction to fiction, these authors cover the full range of human experience and you won’t want to miss a single speaker, or conversation.
Sept. 13: Bob Schieffer, 3 p.m., Edgerton Center for the Performing Arts, Fairfield, CT
Bob Scheiffer's America
CBS News chief Washington correspondent and anchor/moderator of Face the Nation, Bob Schieffer, will talk about and sign copies of his new book, Bob Schieffer's America, which brings together over 150 of his best essays. Covering a broad range of subjects from politics to human interest, the book offers wise, rueful, candid, and graceful commentaries from one of journalism's most stylish and respected writers. Schieffer has won six Emmy awards, and in 2002 was named Broadcaster of the Year by the National Press Foundation. He lives in Washington, DC.

Acedia & Me: A Marriage, Monks, and a Writer's Life
Kathleen Norris, bestselling author of "The Cloister Walk" and "Amazing Grace", will speak about and sign copies of her new book, "Acedia & Me: A Marriage, Monks, and a Writer's Life." Called her masterpiece, it is a personal and moving memoir that resurrects the ancient term acedia, or soul-weariness, and explores its relevance to the modern individual and culture.
